Forty-five years of oars in the water.

From novice crews training on the harbour to alumni now scattered across the world, HKU Rowing has carried one crew through every stroke, every early sunrise, and every finish line. This November, the Rowing Club and the Alumni Rowing Club come together to celebrate the friendships, the finishes, and the fire that built us.

Five years ago, we celebrated our 40th the same way.
Why We Gather

Some things a race clock can't measure.

A season of results, honoured together with the people who made them possible.

Before every race, the same huddle.

Then somebody always ends up in the water.

On the Water

Every stroke counts.

A season of racing, from quiet mornings to the finish line.

Then, the moment it's over.

Line crossed, arms up. Every early morning on the water was for this.

No one else to carry the rhythm.

The single scull, where the sport's honesty is impossible to hide from.

Four blades finding the same beat.

The whole boat lives or dies in the catch, every rower, exactly together.

Every blade, exactly together.

Dark water, full pressure, not a stroke out of place.

Hong Kong's harbour, still the training ground.

The same waters HKU crews have trained on for forty-five years.
